Callam Laine Commission Policy

A Meaningful Place, Created for You

A Callam Laine commission is an original work of art created in response to your story, space, memory, season, or emotional intention.
Together, we will identify the feeling, colors, symbols, textures, and general direction you would like the artwork to carry. The final piece will be created through the recognizable style and artistic perspective of Callam Laine.
A commission is not an exact reproduction of another painting, photograph, or artist’s work. Because each piece is created by hand, variations and unexpected details are part of what make the finished artwork original.

COmmission Process

  1. Inquiry

Complete the Commission Inquiry Form with your preferred size, budget, colors, placement, desired completion date, and inspiration. Submitting an inquiry does not require you to purchase a commission and does not guarantee availability.

2.Review and Estimate

Callam Laine will review your request and respond within three to five business days. If the project appears to be a good fit, you will receive an estimate describing the proposed size, materials, price, estimated completion window, and any additional costs.

3.Agreement and Booking Payment

Your commission is officially reserved after:

The booking payment is applied to the total commission price. It becomes non-refundable after your project has been scheduled, planning has begun, or materials have been purchased.

  • The commission agreement has been accepted.

  • The 50% booking payment has been received

  • Any required inspiration materials have been submitted

4. Creative Direction

Before painting begins, we will confirm:

  • Canvas size and orientation

  • General color palette

  • Colors that should be avoided

  • Emotional intention or meaning

  • Important symbols or visual elements

  • Placement and surrounding room colors

  • Framing preferences, when applicable

The client grants Callam Laine reasonable artistic discretion regarding composition, texture, balance, brushwork, layering, and final interpretation.

5.Creation and Communication Direction

Most commissions are completed within approximately 8–12 weeks after the agreement, booking payment, and inspiration information are received.

This is an estimated window rather than a guaranteed delivery date. Requested deadlines are confirmed only when they are included in the commission agreement.

Callam Laine will communicate if an unexpected delay meaningfully changes the estimated timeline.

6.Revisions

One round of reasonable minor adjustments is included. Minor adjustments may include small changes to color balance, contrast, or limited surface details.

Major compositional changes, a new color direction, resizing, or restarting the artwork are not included once painting has begun. Additional work requested outside the agreed direction may require a revised price and timeline.

The natural variation of handmade abstract art is not considered a defect.

7.Approval and Final Payment

A photograph of the completed artwork will be provided for final review.

The remaining balance is due within seven days of final approval and must be paid before the artwork is shipped, delivered, or released for pickup.

Please remember that colors may appear slightly different across screens and lighting conditions.

8.Cancellation

If the client cancels after the commission has been booked, the initial booking payment will be retained to compensate for reserved time, planning, communication, and materials.

If Callam Laine is unable to complete the commission, payments for unfinished work will be returned.

Failure to respond to messages for 30 days may place the project on hold and change its completion window.

9.Shipping, Pickup and Damage

Shipping, insurance, framing, delivery, and installation are not included unless they appear in the written estimate.

The client is responsible for providing an accurate delivery address.

If artwork arrives damaged, the client must contact Callam Laine within 48 hours and retain the artwork and all original packaging while the shipping claim is reviewed.

10.Returns

Because commissioned artwork is created specifically for the client, commissioned pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged because of a change of mind.

This does not limit assistance for artwork that is damaged during delivery or materially different from the written commission agreement.

11.copyright and Reproduction

The client owns the physical artwork after full payment is received.

Callam Laine retains the copyright and reproduction rights to the artwork, including the right to photograph the piece and create prints or promotional materials, unless a different written agreement has been made.

The client may photograph and share the artwork for personal, noncommercial purposes with credit to Callam Laine.

12.Personal Stories and Privacy

The emotional meaning behind a commission belongs to the client.

Callam Laine will not publish names, personal stories, memorial information, or sensitive details without the client’s permission. The client may request that the artwork and process remain completely private.

13.Inspiration Materials

Clients may submit photographs, color references, room images, written memories, and examples of Callam Laine artwork that resonate with them.

By submitting an image, the client confirms that they have permission to share and use it as inspiration. Submitted materials will guide the feeling and direction of the work but will not be copied exactly.

A Final Note

A commission is a collaboration built on trust.

You are invited to share what matters, what you hope the piece will hold, and what you would like to feel when you live with it. From there, space remains for the artwork to become something original—created for the moments that do not always have words.
